NCI: As the Telecommunications Technician (Telecommunications Technician I) , you will have a very important place in a telecommunications system that is pivotal to National Security. The Telecommunications Technician is a part of a team that assures communications to American units all over the globe. You will work in a dynamic team environment supporting the Network Enterprise Center (NEC) to better serve their customers IAW NEC policy.

Highlights of Responsibilities
 
  • Install various types of cables and wires (i.e., CAT-6, T1, fiber optic) and peripheral devices IAW NEC guidance to support NIPRNET infrastructure.
  • Create network drops as necessary to facilitate computer system connection.
  • Connect and test appropriate equipment connected as a result of cable installation.
  • Test all cabling end to end with a FLUKE test set or equivalent (approved by NEC).
  • Provide fluke test results to the NEC PM.
Requirements
 
  • Two (2) year experience in the related field.
  • US citizenship required.
  • Intermediate knowledge of industry standards to include American National Standards (ANS I)/Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA)/Electronics Industry Alliance (EIA) Building Telecommunications Wiring Standards, National Electrical Code and IEEE 802.3 and 802.5.
  • Intermediate experience with premise wiring (voice and data or any combination of each) and telephone installation (analog and VOIP).
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance granted by the Department of Defense.
  • Current Security+ Certification (obtained within the past three years) or ability to obtain within 60 days of hire.
  • Current Brocade Certification (BAIS) or ability to obtain within 60 days of hire.
  • Valid driver's license.

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Associates degree in a related discipline.
  • Prior military service or support of government customers.
  • BICSI certification.
